(Multichannel composition 2023)
I have long been fascinated by the Sun—its influence on space and its
role as the primary source of energy for life on Earth. The Sun’s
constant churn of material and magnetic fields creates an ever-
changing cosmic landscape. As both a symbol of life and the brightest
radiation source across a spectrum of frequencies, the Sun produces
audible radio emissions, particularly as its intensity increases during
the nearly peak of the 11-year solar cycle. This exciting moment has
inspired me to begin recording this immense star.
This composition focuses on self-made recordings of the Sun’s radio
emissions, captured using a radio telescope at the Astronomical
Observatory Urania in Italy. From these recordings, I created a
multichannel composition that transforms the solar radio emissions
into a dynamic musical flow. The structure of the composition draws
inspiration from the physical characteristics of the Sun—its form,
circular motion, synchronization, density, flux, and the high intensity
of its emissions. This work aims to poetically express the profound
connection between light, energy, and life, fostering greater awareness
of the Sun’s influence on our world.
